Live Longer, Better at the MAC
What is it?
‘Live Longer, Better at the MAC’ is an Active Cornwall-funded group programme for those aged 55+ to enjoy the health and social benefits of exercising regularly in a relaxed, friendly environment to build strength, balance and co-ordination, which are important to health particularly in older people. Starting 21st April and running for six months, there’ll be weekly, beginner-level classes in Pilates, Yoga and Fitness.
What do we aim to achieve?
· More of our community enjoying the health and social benefits of group exercise
· A busier and more vibrant MAC
· Live Longer Better Members building an exercise habit that they will continue in future
What does the programme look like?
Monday 2pm FUNctional Fitness with Anita
Thursdays 11am Pilates for Beginners with Linda
Friday 9.30am Yoga for Beginners with Hatty
Each group session lasts an hour, and the instructor will be around for half an hour afterwards to answer questions or share tips and techniques either in the Sports Hall or informally over a coffee in the Conservatory
I’m interested: what do I need?
Comfortable, loose-fitting clothes, a bottle of water and an open mind! We’ll provide any equipment
What does it cost?
Nothing! ‘Live Longer, Better at the MAC’ is free to over-55s no longer in regular employment. It’s funded by Active Cornwall in conjunction with the MAC

Once that’s done, we’ll send you an e-mail with a link to the class booking pages.
Live Longer Better Members can book up to two classes a week, up to two weeks ahead.

Please note
- Only Live Longer Better Members who’ve completed this process will be able to attend these free classes
- There are twenty spaces for each class. We expect they’ll book up quickly, so please don’t be disappointed if you don’t always get the class you want
- You’ll need to complete a pre-workout questionnaire for your instructor the first time you attend each class.
- If you can’t make a class you’ve booked for, please cancel more than 24 hours ahead so that another Live Longer Better Member can take your place
- If you don’t attend a class that you’ve booked for, and don’t let us know: on a second occasion you’ll lose your Live Longer Better Membership
- Once the programme has started, we won’t be able to accept new Members onto this programme, but hope to be able to run another one for a new group of Members from October
